Genealogy research reveals an ancestor who deserted from the 6th Cavalry. He enlisted in St. Louis where he was employed as a brewer. He was a German immigrant who had been in the U.S. 9 years. The 6th was sent to Arizona, Fort Grant apparently. He lived his life in Hermosillo and other parts of Sonora with a Spanish wife from Mexico.
