Of course to them it was probably second nature.I doubt I could ever live without my refrigerator or gas range and supermarkets. There weren't even any stores except in town.I'd have never lasted in he old west. :)Thank you for the info.
Carol L.
Lucky4750@aol.comCarol L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05291123842810883524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-353479285769121899.post-78894035314171753342010-05-13T10:47:21.542-04:002010-05-13T10:47:21.542-04:00Fun information!Fun information!Paty Jagerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03257614436422105729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-353479285769121899.post-29937937921597677182010-05-13T07:00:01.403-04:002010-05-13T07:00:01.403-04:00Makes me really glad for all my modern convenience...Makes me really glad for all my modern conveniences, too! I lived in the country growing up and live in the country now. I have made butter, but don't much anymore. We have a garden. I can and freeze what we can't eat right away. Fishing and hunting add a whole different type of work.

Thank Heaven we have the modern conveniences we do. Unfortunately, cooking and putting things by is becoming a lost art.librarypatnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-353479285769121899.post-48149905201861893762010-05-12T21:40:27.031-04:002010-05-12T21:40:27.031-04:00Hi Sally,

I hope you were able to visit with the family and they didn't leave you to kitchen duties while they went off fishing and swimming! At a weekend family reunion campout I fixed meals over a fire for 20 people for 4 days. With great planning and groceries at hand the days were spent preparing one meal, cleaning up, starting the next. I equated it to 4 days of hard labor. I daily give thanks for electricity and indoor plumbing.Sallyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05758737470750841665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-353479285769121899.post-1671716809110190822010-05-12T19:55:48.470-04:002010-05-12T19:55:48.470-04:00Hi Blythe! A few are diabetic, a few are allergic to gluten and cannot have any wheat. I sometimes don't know how they keep themselves full! And you're right--the amount of time in planning, purchasing, and then preparing the food is overwhelming to me.Kathryn Albrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00133422500061876841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-353479285769121899.post-83004031463118876772010-05-12T19:42:20.812-04:002010-05-12T19:42:20.812-04:00Hi Barbara!
